The AAO’s Professional Development Committee presents

Managing Small Archives

This introductory workshop will guide participants on managing small archives. New archivists are often unprepared for the tasks involved in working in an archives, especially when they are the sole worker. Topics include: how to set up an archives, developing policies, managing volunteers, promoting the archives, and making the most of technology.

Cost*:$80 (AAO members), $50 (AAO student members), $120 (non-members)

*There will be limited fully subsidized workshop spots for participants who are students and/or precariously employed (on a first-come, first-served basis). Please contact professionaldevelopment@aao-archivists.ca for details.

About the instructor:

Amanda Hill trained as an archivist in England in the 1990s and has worked at Canterbury Cathedral Archives, the Essex Record Office and the Universities of Oxford and Manchester. She immigrated to Canada in 2007 and has been the archivist for the Town of Deseronto and the Coordinator for Archeion, Ontario's online archive network. In 2015, she became the archivist for the Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County.

Recording: This workshop will NOT be recorded.

Registration: A minimum of 10 participants and a maximum of 30 participants may register for this event. Institutional members can register three participants at the members rate. If you require additional time to prepare payment, please contact aao@aao-archivists.ca to set up an invoice.
