Join the AAO’s Archeion Coordinator to learn about assessment metrics for your online finding aids and how to start using Google Analytics!
This two hour Zoom workshop will take place on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
At this two hour session, attendees will learn about:
-
the AAO’s Archeion service and how it can be used to promote your online finding aids within the context of your organization
-
a brief introduction to the history of assessment metrics in archives
-
ideas for using assessment metrics, like Google Analytics, to evaluate your online finding aids (who uses them?; how often?; what’s working well or needs improvement?; etc.)
-
an overview of Google Analytics and where to find further training and documentation
-
a walkthrough of the Archeion Looker Studio reports
-
a walkthrough of Archeion’s new Google Analytics Explore reports for institutions
The session will conclude with a question and discussion period.
Archeion is Ontario’s Archival Information Network - it is both a directory of Ontario archives institutions as well as a discovery portal for researchers to search across participating institutions’ archival descriptions. Archeion makes use of the Access to Memory (AtoM) archival description platform and collects website analytics data through Google Analytics.
While this session will focus on examples using the Archeion service, the session will be relevant to any institution who is publishing online finding aids, even if they do not participate in Archeion.
All active Archeion institutions are encouraged to attend this session. If your institution would like to renew your editor login for Archeion prior to the sessions, please email archeion@aao-archivists.ca. No prior experience with Google Analytics or assessment is necessary. A Google Analytics login is not required.
Note: this session will not discuss functionality or training for the AtoM platform or the Archeion service. To view past Archeion workshop and training materials, consult the AAO’s YouTube Archeion Playlist and the freely available Getting Started With Archeion training slide deck. If your institution requires Archeion support, email the Archeion Coordinator at archeion@aao-archivists.ca.
We hope to see you there!
