  • 21 Nov 2014
  • 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • CBBBindery, 80 Ward Street, Toronto, 2nd Floor Suite 207

The Toronto Area Archivists' Group [taag] is pleased to offer and invite you to its 2014 fall workshop: Simple Preservation Treatments for Flat Records.

This workshop is being led by Rose Newlove.

Date: Friday, November 21, 2014; full-day 10:00 am to 4:30 pm
Place: CBBAG Bindery; 80 Ward St, Toronto, Second Floor, Suite 207
Cost: $100/participant (max. 12 participants)

This full-day, hands-on workshop will introduce participants to basic treatment techniques and work set ups for care of archival collections. Techniques including surface cleaning, fastener removal, opening of folded and rolled documents, releasing simple creases, and stabilizing tears will be covered. Workstation set up, methods to fully support records, how to keep a record of work done, and various materials and resources will also be discussed. All tools and materials will be supplied. Lunch and coffee are not provided; there are many cafés and lunch counters in the area.

Rose Newlove is a Toronto-based professional freelance conservator, focusing on paper, archival materials, and books. Rose's work focuses largely on preventative conservation rather than restorative work; here, the objective is not to return the items to their original state, but rather to stabilize them to prevent further damage.

Please see the attached description for all workshop details and registration information. Alternatively, you may access this information online at: http://bit.ly/1rGG16V

Payment is to be made by cheque payable to the Toronto Area Archivists' Group. Please remit payment along with the registration form found on the second page of the workshop description no later than November 14, 2014 to:
