  • Archives Advisor Program

Members have priority access to the Archives Advisor Program for advice and information via email and telephone. Institutional and full Individual members may also request on site consultation visits.

With an AAO institutional membership, archival repositories can take part in Archeion, Ontario's Archival Information Network to upload and share finding aid descriptions.

  • Access to Off the Record Issues

You’ll receive a complimentary subscription to Off the Record, the official newsletter of the AAO. This publication includes technical and professional advice, special features on archives across Ontario, and information on educational and employment opportunities. Login to the members-only section of the website to gain your unrestricted access to the year’s most current issues!

  • Affiliation with Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

Connect with archivists in a specialized interest group to discuss concerns or to plan special events. Currently, the AAO has two SIGs groups: the Association of Independent School Archivists and the Municipal Archives Interest Group.

  • Archives Emergency Response Network (AERN)

Institutional and full Individual members are eligible to participate in the Archives Emergency Response Network for assistance in the event of a disaster at their archives.

Membership Fees 

All memberships begin on 1st of April and expire on 31st of March the following year unless renewed.

Individual $95.00

Student $30.00

Registered full time in a post-secondary institution, and new professionals for two years following the year of graduation. The two year post-graduation period is available only to individuals who joined the AAO while attending a recognized post-secondary institution. Proof of enrollment or program completion is required.


(Fees are based on the the number of full-time employees and/or volunteers)

1-4 employees $250.00

5-10 employees $450.00

11-24 employees $775.00

25+employees $2,500.00

Note: To calculate your member rate, calculate how many paid full-time employees (defined as more than 24 hours per week on a 35 hour work week and more than 28 hours per week on a 40 hour work week) perform archival functions in your institution. Part-time should be pro-rated.

Friends of the AAO $35.00

Retired $35.00
